Peter Obi: Over 150 Groups Drums Support For The Labour Party Presidential Candidate



The ‘people-imposed’ de-facto national leader of the OBIdient movement and presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, has managed to attract huge appraisal from Nigerians of all walks of life, tribe, religion and social strata.

A support that started organically, it grew exponentially to a massive support-base and socio-political movement, thus making Peter Obi a national sensation and toast to Nigerians all over the world who advocate for good governance.

Recently, the Labour Party secretariat made public a number of support and civil society groups who have endorsed Peter Obi as the right man to take the saddle of leadership as Nigeria’s president.

Speaking with the National Secretary of the Party, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, he made it known that 106 support groups have indicated interest to work with the Labour Party leadership in the electioneering process leading up to the 2023 general elections, with the ultimate goal of securing a Peter Obi presidency, in particular.

Meanwhile, a forum of support groups under the aegis of Coalition For Peter Obi (CPO) which is an association of independent support groups for the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has announced that a number of support groups have identified with the coalition in pursuit of the same goal.

Speaking at their recently organized leadership summit in honor of Peter Obi, the general secretary of the organization, Dr Steena Ezekwesili, announced that over 50 support groups from around the country have registered with the coalition and have been working meticulously to actualize their common goal of a Peter Obi led Nigeria.

The coalition which was originally forged with the alliance of 17 independent support groups for Peter Obi, has since absorbed and inducted a number of other independent support groups into its support network.

In the same vein, the national chairman of the Labour Party, Barrister Julius Abure, highly commended the activities of the support groups under the coalition whilst speaking at the  summit, he noted that the Labour Party leadership were really grateful for the many efforts these groups have put in to ensure that various Labour Party candidates at the general elections secure victory, especially Peter Obi, it’s presidential flag-bearer.

He made an unreserved commitment to work in tandem with the coalition’s leadership to foster an effective and efficient campaign for the forthcoming elections.
